Fruit and Vegetable Box Distribution

The Fruit an Vegetable Box distribution program is moving from the High School to the Newman School!  Starting Friday, June 5th, 2020 the boxes will be given out from 3:00-4:00pm at the Newman School auditorium entrance, off the parking lot.  This will continue to be the location for the next four Friday's, June 5, 12, 19 and 26th.  These produce boxes are FREE to any Needham resident, no income restrictions.

Please follow the direction of the Needham Police Officer for lining up your car upon arrival at Newman (1155 Central Avenue).  There will be NO IDLING allowed in line so plan your arrival accordingly.  If it is a hot day, you will be sitting in your car without air conditioning.

We have a limited supply of produce boxes to distribute and they did go fast last week.  If you arrive and no one is there, that means we have handed out all the boxes already.  We are hopeful that we will receive more boxes to distribute in future weeks, so it is worth the effort to keep trying each Friday.  We are so happy that so may people are benefiting and enjoying this program and are working hard to receive more produce to satisfy the demand.  Residents having access to healthy food is very important to us!

Pandemic-EBT Card Information

Pandemic EBT Flyer

Thanks to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 via the Massachusetts Child Nutrition Outreach Program (CNOP), Pandemic EBT money ($5.70 per day per school child) is automatically added to the EBT card for families who have children on SNAP/food stamps.

Also, non-SNAP families who have been qualified for free or reduced-price meals should receive a special P-EBT card.  (This information was collected by CNOP from school districts in April)

Families who have not qualified for Free or Reduced meals in the past, and not receive receive SNAP benefits, but have had recent reduction in family income due to COVID, can submit a 2019-2020 meal application and updated financial information to see if they now qualify.

They can apply by:

  • Going to lunchapp.com (easiest and fastest way)
  • Or, by downloading the application from our website and completing the application, and sending it in to "Nutrition Services, attention Mirella, 1330 Highland Avenue, Needham 02492" for processing.
  • Or, they can scan and email the completed application to lunch_account@needham.k12.ma.us

The application will be processed within a few days, and the results will be emailed to them.  If and when CNOP gathers free-reduced information from school districts again, students who are newly qualified free-reduced will receive this P-EBT money.

For questions regarding P-EBT, the following P-EBT Help Info document may help.
