"Meaties vs. Veggies"

(A comparison of a vegetarian diet and a traditional meat inclusive diet)

Laura and Samantha

Recently, many people have changed their eating habits to keep away from some, if not all, meat and dairy products. Some say that this is a healthier lifestyle, while others claim that a person needs red meat in order to be healthy. We decided to

look at different vegetarian and meat inclusive diets in order to determine if a person can meet all of her dietary requirements without consuming animal products. In order to find out about a person's daily nutritional needs, we will read nutrition books and researched healthy eating habits on the internet. We also conducted a study of both vegetarians and non-vegetarians to research the kinds of foods each group consumes and how these foods affect energy levels.

After researching vegetarian lifestyles, it became obvious that one can meet all of his or her daily needs without the use of dairy or meat products, as long as he or she is careful to get enough protein, calcium and iron from other sources. Through our field study and by reading about many experiments done in the past, we noticed that vegetarians often feel more energetic than their meat eating counterparts, perhaps because of the increased amount of freshly grown fruits and vegetables that vegetarians consume.

In conclusion, a vegetarian diet is a very healthy way to live as long as if the person is careful enough to watch the things that he or she eats in order to make sure that all daily nutritional requirements are fulfilled.
