Needham Community Education (NCE) offers joyful, engaging enrichment opportunities for students in grades K-5, held at Needham elementary schools throughout the school year. Our classes give students the opportunity to learn, create, explore, move, play, and discover new interests in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Programs span a variety of interests, including:

• Visual arts and creative projects
• Science and hands-on exploration
• Chess and strategy
• Technology, coding, and robotics
• Active play and games
• Writing and creative expression
• And more!

Each session features new projects and activities, so returning students are always welcome. Classes are designed with the age, grade level, and interests of participating students in mind.

How NCE Elementary Programs Work

NCE after-school classes begin at the end of the school day. Students are dismissed to the designated NCE waiting area at their school, where they are supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE instructor arrives.

Students enrolled in the Needham Extended Day Program (NEDP) may also participate in NCE Elementary classes. At the end of their NCE class, students will be escorted back to NEDP. Families must provide NEDP with a Dismissal Change Form notifying them that their student will attend an NCE class and arrive at NEDP when the class concludes.

We recommend creating your NCE online account before registration opens so that you are ready to enroll when classes become available.

• Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Popular classes may fill quickly.
• Students should be registered for classes at the elementary school they currently attend, unless otherwise specified.
• Review all class details, dates, policies, and registration information before enrolling.

What If a Class Is Full?

If your preferred class is full, we encourage you to join the waitlist. You may also wish to register for another class while you wait, as availability can change throughout the registration period. If a spot becomes available, NCE will contact families on the waitlist and make the necessary enrollment adjustments.

Financial Assistance

Scholarship assistance is available for Needham Public Schools students experiencing financial hardship. No student will be denied access to an NCE program because of an inability to pay. For additional questions about financial assistance, please contact the NCE office at 781-455-0400 x5.
